The Watauga Arts Council will welcome Jack Hamrick and Lindsay Carroll to the King Street Art Collective from July 22, 2021 until the end of July. A reception will be held this Friday, July 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 585 West King Street, Boone, NC with Jack Hamrick and Lindsay Carroll.
Hamrick’s works present vibrant landscapes and inspired summaries of art history, life experience and the environment. Hamrick creates art that transports the viewer through a sublimated experience of visceral arousal. He is motivated and fascinated by color and color theory, and uses paint to render colorful and energetic compositions. Lindsay Carroll is a portrait and figurative artist based in the High Country of North Carolina. Nudes – Carroll’s main subject – take center stage in his works which have been described as “soft”, “dramatic” and “detailed”. Each painting is carefully planned and diligently executed with the aim of portraying the personality of the model. You can meet the artists and see them work from July 22 to 25 and from July 29 to 31. The hours of operation for King Street Art Collectives are Thursdays from 11 p.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays, although artists can add extra hours, so feel free to drop by. they work !
During your visit, don’t forget to visit the gift shop, filled with works of art by local artisans. With everything from lamps and greeting cards to hand-turned wooden bowls, there’s something for everyone!
In the main gallery, be sure to check out Forma Cava. Forma Cava is a collection of inquiries into form and matter by two artists, Richard Elaver and Wayne Sutton. Their work is inspired by the shapes and patterns of nature and gives rise to sculptures and functional objects, such as glasses and jewelry. The shapes are biomorphic, often combined with cell patterns, creating voids and crevices that invite the viewer into and through the object. Materials and techniques vary widely, including woodcarving, metal fabrication, and 3D printing. Their work can be viewed until August 14, during the regular hours of the King Street Art Collective.
