Ladies fall in the Monday exhibition at ULM

Monroe, Louisiana – The Centennial women’s basketball team fell 70-36 to the ULM Warhawks on Monday night in a non-conference exhibition competition at the Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

The Ladies and the Warhawks met for the first time since the 2010-11 season when the ULM recorded an 87-61 victory. The ULM goes to 2-3 over the season with Monday’s victory.

Centenary was dominated by sophomore guard Addy Tremie (Sulfur, Louisiana) as she scored nine points and rebounds in 38 minutes. She connected on 3-9 three-point attempts and picked up two interceptions. junior Destini Powell (Minden, Louisiana) scored six points and grabbed a pair of rebounds with two assists in 27 minutes and his pair of treys.

G freshman Mary Leday (Opelousas, Louisiana) played 39 minutes and scored five with a rebound, two assists and two steals. She was 2-6 on the floor and 1-2 on the free throw line. Junior F Jazzmyn Jones (Normangee, TX) scored five points and four rebounds in 25 minutes. She was 3-6 on the free throw line with an assist and a steal.

Freshman G Alana Jones (Shreveport) put in a strong performance with five points, six rebounds and three assists. She added a steal and made 3-4 free throws in 31 minutes. Freshman G Dymon Drumgo (Alexandria, Louisiana) added four points in nine minutes with an assist and steal and was 2-4 on the field. Junior F Amelia Bagwell (West Monroe, Louisiana) played 23 minutes and caught six rebounds, blocked two shots, two runs and stole.

The Women shot 24.5% for the game from the field and had nine assists, nine steals and two blocked shots. Centenary hit five treys and was 7-12 from the free throw line. The Maroon and White scored 12 points in the paint, had seven bench points and five second chance points.

ULM shot 45.2% overall, was 6-17 from long range and was a perfect 8-8 from the free low line. The Warhawks topped the Ladies, 43-28, and had two double-digit players as Gara Beth Self scored 13 points and Gracen Williams added 12. The Warhawks scored 38 points in the paint, scored 30 points on turnovers and received 28 points less The bench. The ULM had 13 quick break points and scored 11 second chance points.

The Women remain on the road this week for another exhibition game at McNeese on Wednesday at Lake Charles at 5 p.m.
