Strand’s reaction to the paint explains his Morgan decision

Victor Strand becomes a true diva after sitting down for a portrait at Fear the living dead season 7, and that rage forces an unexpected change in his relationship with Morgan Jones. Strand’s dictatorial tendencies reach new heights in “The Portrait”, when he orders an artist to paint his image in the traditional style of kings, queens, presidents and nobles …

Juliana, the poor artist, spent countless hours creating her technically impressive portrait, only for Strand to throw the canvas from the roof of the tower, somehow deeply enraged by the face she presented. At the end of the episode, however, Victor requests that the tattered and torn portrait be retrieved and proudly installed in his office. Strand’s initial reaction – and his subsequent change of mind – shows just how erratic he becomes in Fear the living dead. Strand’s artistic rage is also why Morgan Jones is finally allowed to enter The Tower, despite having spent the last 7 episodes being warned and shunned.

Victor Strand hates his portrayal because it does not reflect the hero he perceives himself to be. Strand asks Juliana to paint from her own esteemed perspective, but when the finished piece is unveiled, the image is unmistakably pompous, arrogant, and clean. The portrayal does not portray a courageous leader who inspires hope and fear in equal measure (this is how Strand considers himself hilarious), it shows – as the leader will later recognize – a “selfish hole. Crashing to earth after this artistic reality check, a livid Strand responds by throwing the portrait overboard, but why does he immediately then invite Morgan into the tower?

Victor Strand’s greatest weakness in Fear the living dead is Alicia Clark. Traveling together for so long, Alicia is the only person whose opinion Questions to Strand, and his endorsement of The Tower would mean the world to him. Initially, Strand desperately sought to find Alicia for this very reason, but upon meeting Will, he reconsidered, deciding that personal attachments would only hold him back. Seeing Juliana’s portrait, Strand finally realizes that the tower dwellers will never see the heroic savior staring at him in the mirror every morning. He needs Alicia after all, both as a friend and to help run La Tour. Leaving few other options, Strand’s sudden urge to locate Alicia Clark leaves him no choice but to risk letting Morgan into his domain.

Everything is bad, of course. Morgan takes this golden opportunity to make a botched assassination attempt, and Strand finds himself even more paranoid and self-centered than at the start of the episode. He’s not close to finding Alicia either. Maybe that’s why Fear the living dead Season 7’s “The Portrait” ends with Strand picking up the zombie-worn paint and stating, “This is how people need to see mebefore strangely adopting baby Mo as her surrogate daughter. The destroyed portrait is shattered, dangerous, ugly, and inspires the kind of fear the original version lacked. might have secrets to hide, the portrait finally reflects the way Strand wants to be seen in Fear the living dead season 7 – and that’s not a good sign for his enemies.
