You are HE EHFagan Studio!
Three questions for Ellen Hackl Fagan, founder of EHFagan Studio.
Why did you start your business?
I have always been an artist who likes to organize the works of other artists in conceptual exhibitions. This interest in conservation evolved into the opening of ODETTA, a contemporary art gallery in 2014. Since opening in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, I have moved the gallery 3 times, closed the brick space. and mortar last October due to COVID, and I moved to an online space and operate as a guest curator in other gallery spaces.
The ODETTA gallery has presented more than 70 exhibitions, both in physical and virtual space since 2014, and has received numerous reviews and commissions. In addition, my own artwork received more attention, which resulted in a constant exhibition practice and larger orders and sales for my paintings.
What is your best-selling product / service?
Innovative original works of contemporary and conceptual art, accessing over 250 artists from around the world, including my own paintings and sculptures.
Have you “reimagined” your small business?
Absoutely. I felt it was time to make a significant change in my presentation of artwork, and the pandemic forced it to happen. Now virtual, I can offer an expanded artist and artwork program and have moved the gallery to ODETTA Digital and ODETTA Petite. Now, I’m no longer tied to a 12 month calendar or a single physical location.
Ellen would like to name Kendra Mascioli Landscape Architecture to appear next!
